Project completed: three drying columns for propane and propylene for East-Europe refinery
FB Tanks recently completed the design and construction of three drying columns destined for a new plant at an Eastern European refinery.
This was a custom project developed for a customer active in the petrochemical industry, which required high-performance equipment with maximum operational reliability.
Technical characteristics of the project
The columns are designed to process propane gas and propylene gas, and represent for all intents and purposes
ASME U Stamp certified pressure vessels, designed according to the ASME VIII Division 1 calculation code.
Each column has the following main features:
-
✅ Volume: 15 m³ each
-
✅ Weight: 20 tons
-
✅ Material: A516 carbon steel GR.70
-
✅ Design pressure: 20 bar
-
✅ Operating temperature: -50 °C to +300 °C
-
✅ Certification: ASME U Stamp (pressure vessels according to ASME VIII Div.1)
- ✅ Planking thickness and convex bottoms: 25 mm. after forming
Quality control and testing
During the construction phase, all columns were subjected to nondestructive testing (NDT) to ensure the quality and safety of the artifact:
-
🔍 100% Penetrating Liquids (PT)
- 🔍Visual inspection (VT)
-
🔍 Radiographs (RX) 100%
-
💧 Final hydraulic test
These audits confirmed theabsence of defects and full compliance with international regulatory requirements.
An international project with high technical content
This intervention confirms FB Tanks’ expertise in tailor-made pressure vessels ,
ASME U Stamp certified and designed according to ASME VIII Division 1, intended for complex systems in the energy and petrochemical industries.
Through an integrated approach-from design to construction and testing-we ensure reliable, safe solutions that meet international standards.
