FB Tanks and the High-Pressure Process Gas Heater for Steel Industry Decarbonization

PROCESS GAS HEATER

FB TANKS participated in the experimental project as an expert in the construction of pressure systems (pressure vessels), manufacturing the PROCESS GAS HEATER shell built with the following parameters:

DESIGN CODE: EN 13445-3
DESIGN PRESSURE: 15 BAR
DESIGN TEMPERATURE: 0 / 270°C external shell
CERTIFICATION: CE / PED mod.G.

Internal lining with preformed and sintered refractory material resistant to internal temperature of 1,200°C

The project, a collaboration between two globally renowned companies in the construction of steelmaking plants, focuses on steel production using the electric arc furnace.

The latter represents a key technology for the decarbonization of the steel sector, both through the construction of plants capable of processing scrap by modifying existing processes, and through the installation of new furnaces capable of replacing (in part) traditional production based on the use of blast furnaces (BF) and basic oxygen furnaces (BOF).

The experimental project aims to develop and implement the most relevant approaches to decarbonization related to the use of electric arc furnaces, including the use of hydrogen

to replace natural gas in existing plants or in revamping processes, or in the context of innovative technologies such as CoJet.

Our involvement in such a cutting-edge project (decarbonization of the steel sector through EAF and hydrogen) and the manufacture of a critical component such as the Process Gas

Heater with rigorous specifications (EN 13445, 15 bar, refractory lining at 1,200°C) clearly demonstrate:

Reputation and Reliability: The trust placed by the two global companies.

Technical Expertise: The ability to manufacture complex pressure systems (pressure vessels) that meet the highest standards (CE/PED Certification) and operate under extreme conditions.
